BELGIUM 1976 AWAY SHIRT – MATCHWORN/ISSUED VS NORTHERN IRELAND #7 LUDO COECK (SIZE M)
The shirt:
Unique Belgium National Team shirt from 1976. The shirt was worn by or made for Ludo Coeck during the home game against Northern Ireland on November 10, 1976. The match was played in Liège. After the game, the shirt was given to Mathy Billen, a former player of Standard Liège from 1975-78, from whom the shirt was received. Belgium won the match 2-0. Coeck didn’t always play with the number 7, but he wore it in this match, as shown in the match sheet on the Belgian Football Association website. The Belgian crest is stitched on, and the number on the back is made from a velvet flock material. The collar has slightly faded, but overall, the shirt is in excellent condition with no pulls or bobbles.
The history:
Due to a double defeat against the Netherlands, Belgium, under the leadership of Guy Thys, was unable to qualify for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. Ludo Coeck played for more than 10 seasons at Anderlecht and 2 years at Inter Milan. He also played 40 games for the national team. He tragically passed away at the age of 30 due to a car accident.
Condition:
Very good, 8/10 (discoloration of the collar)
